New: V-Ray 6 for SketchUp and Rhino
News | October 8, 2022
V-Ray 6 for SketchUp and Rhino is now available! Version 6 includes many new features and improvements. Below we give you an overview of what’s new in V-Ray 6.
What are the new features of V-Ray 6?
Direct exchange between V-Ray & Enscape:
With V-Ray 6 you directly convert real-time scenes from Enscape and make them as photorealistic as possible. All design decisions during the various design stages are preserved as Enscape supports materials, objects and light. This allows designers and visualization experts to work together smoothly.
New cloud system:
You no longer have to spend hours browsing through HDRI libraries to add an appropriate cloud sky to scenes. With the new procedural cloud system, you have a flexible and memory-efficient way to create and animate any type of cloud sky ear impressive timelapse presentations.
V-Ray Enmesh:
Create complex and geometric patterns on object surfaces to create fences, panels and fabrics in an automated and memory-efficient manner.
V-Ray Dome Light Mode:
Refine scale and create depth in environments of projects when using the new V-Ray Dome Light Mode.
Distance texture:
Create realistic relationships between elements in a scene by varying effects such as displacement or procedural fur based on proximity. This is how you design a walkable path through a lawn or form dark spots under downspouts.
Better translucent materials:
With V-Ray material’s improved “subsurface scattering mode,” you render translucent materials such as glass faster.
Iridescent materials:
The new Thin Film option makes it easy to create iridescent (rainbow-colored) materials, such as soap bubbles and oil stains.
More accurate reflections:
Thanks to a new energy conservation technique, you now render metals and rough reflective materials more neatly in V-Ray.
Improved dirt texture:
Place more accurate dirt with by adding or excluding objects.
Group assets:
With asset tags, you can now group assets. Use the new tag system in the Asset Editor to improve the organization of scenes in complex projects.
Wider color palette:
Utilize a wider color palette to perform renders with industry-standard ACEScg color coding.
Pause renders:
You can pause and resume renders at any time.
